Timeless Teachings in a Changing World
Seeing children enjoy educational activities is what inspires me. Math and Science are two subjects that children lose interest in early in life. I believe that the best teachers are those who create unique lessons that are engaging, fun, and educational while ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom. At STEM Preschool it is all about the child’s experience. We want to ensure your child enjoys learning to maintain a future interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
I am a proud Hokie, member of Virginia Tech’s class of 2008; and Marymount University Alumni. I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education. In my younger years I was the student who loved participating in science projects, looked forward to math class, and loved to build anything! This inspired me to have an interest in studying Pre-med in college. While in college I worked at Blacksburg Child Development Center, where I gained years of experience with infants and younger children. Once I graduated I taught for 5 years in Arlington County Public Schools.
I look forward to providing your family with the best quality, safe and nurturing childcare. I always welcome questions and comments. Please feel free to contact me at any time!
Hello STEM Families!
My name is Andrea Rocha and I am excited for a new school year here at STEM preschool - Capitol Hill as Closing Manager and lead teacher of the Eager Engineers classroom. I have a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality management and I got my CDA when I moved to DC a few years ago. I am originally from Lima, Peru and I have 4 years of experience in the Education field, my lesson plans are filled with creative, educational, fun and hands-on activities for all the students to enjoy and learn. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, going swimming, and visiting museums. I look forward to getting to know every new student and their family.
