POTOMAC ADMINISTRATION
DIRECTOR
GENIFER JACKSON
Hello all STEM Preschool Families and Educators!
My name is Genifer Jackson. I have been working in the education field for 15 years. When I started my journey in the workforce after college, I was trying to find myself. Education was a passion since my childhood which led me to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Early Child Education. However, I did not actually use my degree for almost a decade after graduating. After graduating, I worked in non-profit organizations as a fundraiser and grant writer. I also worked in community development and community relations. Fast forward to 2009, I finally decided to use my degree and became a preschool teacher! I have experience with all ages from 6 weeks to school-agers and haven't looked back since. There has been nothing more fulfilling than working with children and amazing educators every day. Children put a smile on my face and make every day an adventure. They are what motivates me on a daily basis. I have been working on the administrative level of early childhood education for almost 10 years. While working in the early childhood education field, I have found my true calling and passion.

In addition to organizing family and staff engagement events I have supported admissions, directed summer camp programs, classroom teacher, Assistant School Director, Auxiliary Program Director, Advisory Council participant and Board Member.
On a personal note, I'm a native Washingtonian, born and raised in Silver Spring. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, B.A. in Criminal Justice, and my 90 hour Preschool Certification. I am the proud mother of Matthew, who lives in Falls Church. My hubby Jeff and I enjoy spending time as empty nesters riding our motorcycle, hiking, watching and cheering for DC & Boston sports teams, trying new restaurants and whipping up delicious meals at home. We have a 1 year old feisty and adorable dog named Harley (named after Jeff's beloved motorcycle). Fun Fact.....Puppy Harley and I have the same birthday on October 3rd!
I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and share more about my experience working with children and seeing you at many of STEM Preschool Potomac's fun events!

Timeless Teachings in a Changing World
Seeing children enjoy educational activities is what inspires me. Math and Science are two subjects that children lose interest in early in life. I believe that the best teachers are those who create unique lessons that are engaging, fun, and educational while ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom. At STEM Preschool it is all about the child’s experience. We want to ensure your child enjoys learning to maintain a future interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
I am a proud Hokie, member of Virginia Tech’s class of 2008; and Marymount University Alumni. I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education. In my younger years I was the student who loved participating in science projects, looked forward to math class, and loved to build anything! This inspired me to have an interest in studying Pre-med in college. While in college I worked at Blacksburg Child Development Center, where I gained years of experience with infants and younger children. Once I graduated I taught for 5 years in Arlington County Public Schools.
I look forward to providing your family with the best quality, safe and nurturing childcare. I always welcome questions and comments. Please feel free to contact me at any time!

EDITHA CORTES
Hello STEM Preschool families, future families, and educators!
I am Editha B. Cortes, born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Being the eldest and grandma’s favorite companion serving the church, I grew up having a huge heart for children. As a teenager I did not go out much. I had a passion to help less fortunate children.
During the summers I spent my time teaching. During Holidays my family shared our blessings by giving food for less fortunate families.
I am a Mass Communication Graduate major in Broadcasting and
attended courses and seminars pertaining to Business
Management and Early Childhood Education. Fluent in English,
Tagalog (our language) and knowledgeable in Spanish. I am
married with 2 wonderful daughters. I love dancing, acting,
watching documentaries and movies, scrapbooking, crafting and
organizing!
In 2010 I moved to the United States now fulfilling my first
dream as an Educator. Being a teacher and with almost 7 years of
experience being an Administrator in Child Daycare, I am
motivated with the purpose of guiding the children to become
good human beings and excellent citizens of the world.
